Privacy Policy

In short

• We don't collect any data about you or how you use the app.
• Laundry Lens has no servers of its own, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party code that collects data.
• Your garments, wardrobes and Basket are kept on your device and synced through your private iCloud database, which we can't access.
• Care label symbols are recognized on your device.
• Some features use Apple's services, like Apple Intelligence, iCloud, Siri and the App Store. Apple handles them under Apple's Privacy Policy.

The camera, your photos and your files

Laundry Lens asks for access to your camera so you can scan care labels. The camera's image is read on your device to recognize the symbols, and it isn't recorded unless you save a garment with its photo.

You can also choose a photo or a file to scan, or to use as a garment's photo. Laundry Lens only gets the photos and files you pick. It doesn't read your photo library.

Your wardrobe and iCloud

The garments you save, with their photos, care instructions, the photo of the label they were scanned from and the wardrobes you put them in, and your Basket, are stored on your device. If you're signed in to iCloud, Laundry Lens keeps them in sync across your devices through your private iCloud database. That database belongs to your Apple Account, and the developer of Laundry Lens has no access to it. Which tips the app has shown you syncs through iCloud the same way.

Your garments and wardrobes are also added to Spotlight on your device, so you can find them from search.

Apple Intelligence

When Apple Intelligence is turned on, Laundry Lens uses it to fill in a garment's name, description, color and fabrics from its label and its photo, to write a note for each load in Basket, and to understand what you search for. The label's text is first read on your device. Then the text, and the garment's photo when filling in its details, go to Apple's language model, on your device or through Apple's Private Cloud Compute. Laundry Lens doesn't send them anywhere else. Apple handles these requests under its own privacy terms.

Siri, Shortcuts and Visual Intelligence

When you use Laundry Lens with Siri, Shortcuts or Visual Intelligence, the system passes your request, or the image you scan, to the app, which handles it on your device. Requests you make to Siri are handled by Apple.

Purchases and tips

Laundry Lens Plus, its lifetime purchase and tips are sold through the App Store. Apple processes the payment. We never receive your payment details, and we don't know who you are. The app only checks with the App Store whether you have Plus, including through Family Sharing.

When you write to us

If you email us, we get your email address and whatever you choose to send, like a description of a problem or a screenshot. We use it only to answer you, and we don't share it, except when the law requires us to, for example to respond to a court order or a request from a government authority.

Your choices

• Turn off access to the camera in Settings › Apps › Laundry Lens.
• Stop syncing with iCloud in Settings › your name › iCloud.
• Turn Apple Intelligence on or off in Settings › Apple Intelligence & Siri.
• Delete a garment or a wardrobe in the app, and it's deleted from your devices and your iCloud. Deleting the app removes what it keeps on that device; the copy in your iCloud stays until you delete it from iCloud's storage settings.

Security

Your data is protected by your device and by iCloud. No method of storage or transfer is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security, but we keep Laundry Lens's design simple on purpose: we don't hold your data at all.

Laundry Lens and this site link to sites and services we don't run, like Apple's. Their own privacy policies apply to them, and we encourage you to read them.

Children

Laundry Lens isn't directed at children under 13, and it doesn't knowingly collect data from anyone. Parents with questions are welcome to contact us.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll post the new one on this page and update the date at the top. A change takes effect when it's posted here.
